Slow Cooker BBQ Butt.

In our home BBQ is a staple and we started with the butt! There is something just classically southern about a good pulled pork sandwich. Top it with some home-made slaw and some pickles, that is a real southern delicacy only to be served with a fresh brewed sweet tea! You don’t even have to smoke it! I am no good at working the smoker like Josh so I resorted to using my crockpot and it tastes amazing!!! The fact that you can basically set it and forget it is also a big positive! Especially for us busy parents who still want a good homecooked meal that the kids won’t snub!

This recipe came about from our love of all things BBQ.  We wanted to be able to go about our normal activities and come home to some wonderful pulled pork.

Servings: 6 People
  • 4-5 lb Pork Butt
  • BBQ Rub  *Feel free to play with this and create one using your favorite seasonings*
  • Soy Sauce *I used low sodium*
  • Worcestershire Sauce *I used reduced Sodium*
  1. Let Butt sit out for 30 min to get room temperature.
  2. Rub Pork with dry rub on all sides.  Salt and pepper as well.
  3. Place in 6qt crock pot.
  4. 3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce on each side of butt. *Use tongs and move the Pork while it is in the slow cooker.
  5. 1 Dash of Soy Sauce on each side.
  6. Total cook time is 6-8 hours. *high for 1-2hrs and the remainder on low.
Recipe Notes

***I found that I don't always have time to adjust the temperature on the slow cooker and that is fine.  I do try to get at least 1 hours worth of high heat at some point in time throughout the cooking process.  Sometimes it is the first hour and sometimes it is the last hour.*** Make Easy Vinegar Slaw because it goes perfectly with this dish.
