Apple Pie

 Apple pie really is a great go-to dessert for summer. I always thought this was going to be a hard pie to bake and it turned out to be super easy and one of my favorites! It is so easy to tweak the flavors and really make it your own. This summer before you go to a group gathering make this pie and you are sure to get many compliments.

Apple pie is a commonly made dessert in America. It is truly an easy pie to bake. Baking is not my strong suit but it is hard to mess up apple pie! We have one daughter that only likes desserts that involve fruit (I don't blame her) and this is one of her absolute favorites.

  • 1 package Pillsbury Pie Crust 2 crusts in one package
  • 6-8 medium apples sliced and peeled I like to use granny smith apples
  • 2-3 tbsp Flour all-purpose
  • 1/2 ts Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1-2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/8 tsp Pumpkin Pie Seasoning or Nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  1. Grease the pie dish and cook the bottom crust according to package directions.

  2. Mix apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, cinnamon, pumpkin pie seasoning, lemon juice, and flour.

  3. Stir until all ingredients are incorporated.
  4. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  5. Be creative with the other crust. Cut out shapes! Make a lattice top!

  6. Pour mixture into cooled pie crust and then top with the top crust.

  7. Bake for 15 minutes and then remove from oven and place a crust protector over pie or cover edges of crust with foil to prevent burning. *You can also brush top crust with butter at this point if you choose to.

  8. Bake for an additional 30 minutes.
